From the creators of the award-winning play, The Knowing of Mary Poppins, comes this intriguing show about truth, illusion and the ‘romance’ of melancholia.
Is it possible to overdose on happiness? What is the right dosage of sadness to live well in the world? Image, poetry, music, movement and narrative combine to explore the way experiences, choices, dreams and disappointments determine happiness – or melancholia.
On a journey to explore her identity, a singer meets two other women: one from Victorian times and the other her contemporary. Will they direct her towards happiness or bury her deeper into the abyss of discontent?
Written by and featuring Leah Mercer, and directed by Margi Brown Ash, A Mouthful of Pins is a mesmerising production set against a landscape divided between truth and illusion, then and now, what was and could be.
