Clocked Out: Goodbye Elvis
Sat 21 Jun 08
Where were you in 1977? There was a punk explosion, Bohemian Rhapsody was written, we discovered the rings of Uranus and Elvis died.
But what was happening to Avant Garde music? Join Brisbane’s acoustic sonic wanderers as they give a historical perspective on music to 2008. 30 years ago the new music scene was splintering through stylistic change, globalisation and expanding technological advances. In this adventurous concert, Clocked Out travel through the USA to Argentina to France, from free improvisation to experimental music to music theatre.
Hear the Gris doing his prepared piano renditions of 1977 pop classics, Feldman’s austere Instruments III and Zorn’s classic game piece Lacrosse. Clocked Out are Vanessa Tomlinson (percussion) and Erik Griswold (prepared piano) with guests Ben Marks (trombone), Ysolt Clarke (horn), Bettina Crimmins (oboe) and Oscar Garrido (bassoon).
And don’t miss Clocked Out on Sat 31 May 4pm when they perform a free performance of Steve Reich’s Drumming. For more information click on the link below.
