Edie and Thea: A Very Long Engagement
Sun 18 Apr 10
Documentary
A tender double portrait of a life shared across forty-five years. A life seemingly ordinary - filled with work, trips, milestones, successes and failures - but a life extraordinary too. Edie and Thea fell in love in the pre-Stonewall 60's and their romance unfolded in the very midst of New York high society no less. They navigated their love affair while courageously navigating radical cultural and social change.
The film draws on a wealth of photos that create a shared backdrop as these two charismatic and quirky women reminisce about their unfaltering love for each other and their journey together. And, like all good romance, this heartwarming documentary ends with a wedding. Finally, after their very long engagement, Edie and Thea make their way down the aisle. Yes, you will shed a tear, but for all the right reasons.
