ATP Australia and Brisbane Powerhouse presents
F*** Buttons (UK), Dead Meadow (USA), Afrirampo (Japan)
Fri 16 Jan 09
In Queensland, All Tomorrow's Parties will present a series of one night stands between 12 January - 16 January at Brisbane Powerhouse. Featured acts include F*ck Buttons, Afrirampo and Harmonia with more to be announced.
F*ck Buttons is a two-piece experimental group formed in Bristol, England in early 2004 and quickly amassing a dedicated cult following throughout the UK. British newspaper sound "A joyous racket of swirling atmospherics and percussive gunfire" in an article highlighting them in a new wave of intelligent, literate British pop music.
From Osaka, Afrirampo formed in 2002, have toured with Sonic Youth, among others and released several CDs on various labels. In 2005 they joined performance artist Yoko Ono on stage for her closing piece at All Tomorrows parties. Afrirampo are fond of free noise, improvisation and nonsensical call and response vocals. They alternate between manic, distorted pop and extended, abstract, improvised noise pieces composed of looping fret noise, droning feedback, guttural barks and impromptu squealing.
Dead Meadow will be bringing their unique marriagge of Sabbath riffs, dreamy layers for guitar fuzz and Jason Simon's high-pitched melodic croon to Brisbane.
