Greek Pete
Fri 16 Apr 10
Documentary/Drama
Filmmaker Andrew Haigh joins forces with a group of actual London rent boys to create a work that is part fiction, part documentary and completely captivating.
With a level of detail that verges on microscopic, this film documents the daily lives of hunky Pete and his friends.
Speaking their own words they are presented as they want to be seen. Sometimes explicit, sometimes awkward, this is a million miles from an idealised version of prostitution. The boys may gloss over some of the issues but they are refreshingly honest about both the glamorous and the repugnant parts of their profession.
Sexy and surprisingly, Greek Pete is truly unique.
