Romantic Comedy
This clever cross-cultural comedy is more than just another British, Indian, Palestinian, Muslim, Christian, lesbian romantic comedy!
Tala, the headstrong daughter of a prosperous Jordanian family is on her fourth engagement. Unable to cope with the elaborate wedding arrangements she escapes back to London where she meets Leyla, a shy writer, working in the family business but dreaming of being published one day.
Despite coming from completely different backgrounds the two women fall in love, and as Tala's wedding day approaches Leyla has the strength to come out to her South Asian Muslim parents. But will Tala conform to the traditional ways of Middle Eastern society and forget about Leyla forever?
Sarif triumphs in adapting her own novel to screen with brilliant performances from Lisa Ray and Sheetal Sheth as the women who can't help falling in love.
