KASSYS (THE NETHERLANDS)

A daring masterpiece that begins on stage with six people who get to hear some terrible news and ends on film with a cinematic exploration of each actor in their private loneliness.

How can something be deeply, profoundly sad yet hilarious at the same time? Kommer (sorrow) traces the intersecting paths of six people as they race through inventive evasions, slapstick parlour tricks and dialogue culled from a soap opera in their search for something human and familiar. 

In this incredibly tender but comical work, Dutch theatre company Kassys dissect the tiny details of human behaviour to say big things about the human condition.  

Kommer is performing at the Adelaide Festival and Brisbane Powerhouse.
