United Way Queensland and Brisbane Powerhouse presents

Local Eyes Brisbane

Tue 21 Sep - Sun 3 Oct 2010

This exhibition offers a voice to those yet to be heard. Eighteen young storytellers have taken up the camera to allow others a glimpse into their lives.

Local Eyes showcases photo stories by 18 individuals from United Way Queensland’s community groups in the greater Brisbane area. We all have an image of Brisbane. We know what it looks like, how it works and how it feels. But our view of Brisbane is just one perspective among thousands. It is through the sharing of stories that the community is formed.

The participating photographers were ably supported by mentors from corporate Brisbane and students in the Bachelor of Photography at Griffith University.

United Way Queensland gratefully acknowledges the support of Queensland College of Arts, Griffith University, Brisbane Airport, Fuij Xerox, Red Suit, and Brisbane Powerhouse.

“We all have an image of Brisbane in our mind’s eye. We all know what It looks like, how it works and how it feels. But our view of Brisbane is just one perspective of the thousands of people who live in Brisbane.”
