No No, Nanette!
Mon 9 Jun - Sat 14 Jun 08
A tap-dancing musical comedy for the whole family featuring two of the most famous show tunes ever written: Tea for Two and I Want to Be Happy.
No, No, Nanette! is a tap dancing musical comedy set in the stylish and vivacious 1920s. It tells the story of Jimmy Smith and his adopted daughter, Nanette and all the trouble they get into and out of on a summer weekend. Included in the score are two of the most famous show tunes ever written: Tea for Two and I Want to Be Happy. Standard numbers like Too Many Rings Around Rosie and You Can Dance with Any Girl at All accompany many other delightful songs.
No No Nanette! has been the subject of several successful revivals. Its delightful inconsequentiality is reflected in its toe-tapping music. This was the era of The Black Bottom, The Varsity Drag and The Charleston; and the songs from Nanette!became the rage. It is a show that takes the audience by the hand and leads it back to the Never-Never-Land of the 20s for some good, clean fun.
No No Nanette! Is directed by Doreen Omiros with musical direction from Julie Whiting and Choreography by Sarah Roberts.
