Brisbane Powerhouse presents
Paprika Balkanicus
Sat 31 May - Sun 1 Jun 08
Paprika Balkanicus plays a fiery blend of Balkan, Eastern European and Gypsy music.
Having wowed audiences at Edinburgh Fringe and Glastonbury festivals, Paprika Balkanicus will take you on a whistle-stop tour of Eastern Europe, from a Slovakian wedding dance to a masterful rendition of The Skylark, good enough to rival the greatest Romanian players.
This trio – Bogdan Vacarescu (violin), Vladimir Jocic (guitar) and Joseph Sechnick (double bass) – will be joined by accordionist extraordinaire, Milos Milivojevic. Band members have previously worked with Nigel Kennedy, World Youth Orchestra, Neil Innes and Tommy Emmanuel. Paprika Balkanicus has also performed at some of London’s most eminent clubs, most notably twice at the world-famous MOMO’s, and won numerous international awards including Spirit of the Fringe and BBC World Music Award.
From UK to Japan, their electrifying show of fantastic musicianship and irresistible tunes makes everyone sing, dance and call for more!
