Fri 10 - Sat 11 Aug 07
NAN JOMBANG DANCE COMPANY
Choreographer Ery Mefri
To perform this visceral choreography a dancer needs to be a master of Pencak Silat (Indonesian martial art), West Sumatran traditional dance and contemporary Western dance. Witness the masters in action as they present three new works that fuse past and present.
Hands, bodies and costumes combine to create a percussive soundscape for this stunning show, including a solo performance, Luluh (Surrender) and two full company performances, Ratok Piriang (Cry of the Plates) and Sarikaik Pangka Sangketo (Dance for Peace).
Comprising choreographer Ery Mefri and five dancers (four female), Nan Jombang Dance have performed to critical acclaim across Indonesia and the US and are lauded for their astonishing physical prowess.
Imagine the magic of this extraordinary ensemble and soloist Angga as they perform gravity defying jumps with astounding agility, strength, charisma and passion.
