World Theatre Festival 2011

Brisbane Powerhouse presents

Super Night Shot

Thu 10 - Sat 12 Feb 2011

Gob Squad (GBR/GER)
PERFORMANCE

This multi-screen video event stars a hero, a casting-agent, a promoter, a location-scout and all the people on the streets of the Valley that night.

Filmed exactly one hour before the audience arrives, Super Night Shot contains no cuts or edits and is simply produced with four hand-held video cameras. Kicking off at Brisbane Powerhouse, with cameras synchronised, these characters declare a ‘War on Anonymity’ before taking to the streets of Brisbane.

A set of magical adventures unfold that celebrate unplanned meetings, explore new territories and find unsuspecting co-stars. The four activists then return to a hero’s welcome, from the audience waiting to see the instant movie they created.

After its highly acclaimed premiere in Berlin, Super Night Shot was ranked in the top ten of best shows for 2003 and continues to wage its war in various cities all over the world.

“Part time real-life documentary, part statement of modern society, hilarious, beautiful and saddening, Gob Squad are as modern and real as you can get” Ely Standard, UK

Super Night Shot was commissioned by Volksbuehne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz Berlin, with research and development funding from the Arts Council of England East Midlands.

Supported by British Council and Goethe Institut.
