The 8th Annual Brisbane Queer Film Festival

You’re invited to the best fest in the village! Brisbane Queer Film Festival is now the second largest film festival in Queensland. This year’s program is bigger and better than ever with seven days of award winning films from across the globe.

The festival kicks off with our opening night film, Fat Girls, followed by a party headed by the UK's hottest gay rapper, QBoy, performing in Oz for the very first time.

The festivities continue over a week packed with fun, drama and diversity. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll be inspired, moved and thoroughly entertained by the fabulous range of stories and documentaries on offer (not to mention the eye candy). So get excited, get your tickets and get ready to experience some of the best flicks on the international film circuit.

QUEER FILM FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

It’s hard to pin down the highlights of this year’s festival because the entire program is HOT! Just for you we’ve put together an irresistible selection of films that have blitzed film festivals across the world.

Laugh with Itty Bitty Titty Committee, the popular 2007 film about a high school girl who joins a radical feminist group, falls in love with its leader, Sadie, and finds a sense of purpose.

Catch the classics! Catherine Denevue and Susan Sarandon star in the queer cult flick, The Hunger, and we’ve got a special screening of the first gay movie made in Australia, The Set.

Be moved by a beautiful love story set against the Yugoslavian conflict of the early 90s (Go West) and a powerful drama about a dysfunctional British family and their chaotic affair with a refugee girl (Gypo).

Be enlightened. We’re dishing up the docos. Boy I Am explores female-to-male transgender issues while Jack Smith & the Destruction of Atlantis celebrates the legendary icon Jack Smith and his widespread influence on the queer, cultural and film world.

Celebrate queer cinema. Get to the opening night film, Fat Girls, and afterwards join the party headlined by the UK’s hottest and most political gay rapper and DJ, QBoy, who has supported the likes of Boy George. Then enjoy an entire week of queer cinema at its best.
