The Sunday Session

A celebration of the nation’s best contemporary classical ensembles.                                                  

Topology, Clocked Out, Continuum Sax, Wood and The David Chesworth Ensemble are five of Australia’s most innovative contemporary classical ensembles and creators of new work. One by one, each group will perform their own signature repertoire.
                                                                                    
David Chesworth Ensemble (Melbourne)
Creating improvised and collaborative work inspired by Chesworth, the David Chesworth Ensemble has performed at Melbourne Festival, BAM’s Next Wave Festival (Brooklyn) and with Nick Cave. 

Continuum Sax (Sydney)
Comprising former members of the Sydney Symphony, Australian Opera and Ballet orchestras, the group has collaborated with Australian composers Raffaele Marcellino, Matthew Hindson, and Stuart Greenbaum.

Wood featuring Iain Grandage (
Perth
Featuring four cellists (one also a vocalist) and a percussionist, Wood has toured for Musica Viva and created concerts for ABC radio's Sunday Live.    

Topology (Brisbane)
Nominated at the Australian Music Centre Awards for Best Contribution to Australian Music for their 2006 concert series at Brisbane Powerhouse, Topology has worked with the likes of Philip Glass, Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Andrew Poppy and Tim Brady.

Clocked out Duo (Brisbane)
This Australian-American duo uses traditional and prepared piano, percussion, voice and a bewildering array of objects, sculptures and toys to create carefully designed sonic, visual and theatrical experiences.
