The Universe of Keith Haring
Sat 24 May 08
An intimate and inspiring portrait of world-renowned artist Keith Haring, whose mantra was "Art is for everyone!"
Keith Haring is one of the most popular and significant artists of the 20th century. A pivotal figure in the world of modern pop art, Haring worked with the likes of his mentor Andy Warhol, who inspired several of Haring’s pieces including Andy Mouse. Haring also worked with artists such as Madonna, Grace Jones and Yoko Ono.
Beginning his career drawing graffiti art in the New York subways, Haring aimed to take art to the people. In an eight-year period Haring created hundreds of public works all over the world, including wall murals in Melbourne, Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, Manhattan, Amsterdam and Berlin.
This fascinating account of Haring’s life features family commentary, celebrity artists, excerpts from original interviews, an original soundtrack by Angelo Talocci and theme song by famed DJ/record producer Junior Vasquez.
