When Melanie is mistaken for a boy she takes the chance to reinvent herself.

Melanie, a young woman with boyish good looks and style, lives a humdrum existence in Germany but dreams of seeing the world.Following her mistaken identity by pretty young Jenny, Melanie takes on the persona of Miguel, a gentle and romantic Portuguese boy. 

Everything is simple until she falls in love with Jenny. Melanie crafts a careful web of deception and becomes enthusiastically lost in her lies, learning Portuguese and constructing a whole new history for herself.

Eventually Melanie’s secret is exposed, forcing her to face the truth. This is a skilful and honest exploration of sexuality, discovery and gender identity
