Brisbane Powerhouse and Motus presents

Too Late! Antigone (Contest #2)

Motus (ITA)

Thu 16 - Sun 19 Feb 2012

Witness an intensely physical performance by one of Italy's most adventurous theatre companies famed for its take-no-prisoners style.

A modern, anarchic take on a Greek tragedy, Too Late! scrutinises the dynamics of power and resistance in a dangerous mix of love and violence.

With Bertold Brecht’s Antigone as its catalyst, the play sees the characters drawn into a merciless set of challenges. Together they amplify power games between fathers and sons, dictators and servants; with a pointed reference to Italy’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and the current decay of European politics.

“…the biggest revelation this year is the ferocious Italian company Motus, whose ‘Too Late! (antigone) Contest #2’ takes a series of well-worn parts… and plays them with such abandon and skill that they feel fresh.” Jason Zinoman, New York Times.
