WTF Forum 1 - What If?

This session will address the big ‘what ifs’ posed by Lenine Bourke (Artistic Director of Contact Inc) and Mary Ann Hunter (arts practioner, policy maker, educator and researcher) in their Currency House Platform Paper, Not Just an Audience: Young People Transforming our Theatre. 

What if the established theatre industry recognised that artists at the leading edge of international and Australian youth-specific performance have a lot to offer adult audiences and can signal vital new trends?  

What if, young people were brought in on the act of transforming Australian theatre? 

What if young punters camped out to get their tickets to the next state theatre show as they do for the next Big Day Out? 

WTF artists and guests will respond to these theories and explore other influencing factors on the current evolution of theatre practice such as generational change, audience participation, the economy, and the immediacy and accessibility of culture. 

The session will be facilitated by Positive Solutions Director, Cathy Hunt and is supported by Currency House.

The two WTF forums are open to all and will create discussion around the change-agents that are reinventing the ritual of going to the theatre for current and future generations.
