Brisbane Gypsy Jazz Festival
Brisbane Powerhouse and Gypsy Jazz Inc. presents
Zaiti Trio and Ziveli Orkestar with Susana Djordjévic
Fri 27 + Sat 28 Aug 2010
As young as talented, guitarist Adrien Moignard leads the Zaïti Trio through a varied Jazz repertoire, strolling without complex from Django Reinhardt to Wes Montgomery.
The Zaiti Trio is composed of Adrien Moignard - lead guitar, Mathieu Chatelain - rhythm guitar and Jérémie Arranger - double bass knows how to combine virtuosity and musicality, classicism and modernity. They form part of this new generation evolving from Django’s legacy.
This is how we could best describe the meeting between Ziveli Orkestar and the marvellous Susana Djordjevic. Yet everything separates them: her in Berlin, them in Paris, her from the world of Opera production and Balkan music, them from the world of Jazz and traditional music.
When Susana gets on the stage after a few instrumental pieces, everything changes … the sound is different because now we don’t hear anymore a Fanfare, but a singer accompanied by musicians here to make us share their universe of poetry, dances and songs. Her voice carries and transports us within this warm Slave culture from Danube to Aegean Sea, from the southern shores of Adriatic Sea to the Black Sea.
